Straub, Beatrice Clara (Gauck),90, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on December 6, 2016 at the Episcopal Church Home. Beatrice (Bea) was born on August 17, 1926 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She was predeceased by her parents, John Frank and Estelle Bertha Sommers Gauck, and her brother Robert Gauck. Bea was raised in Batesville, IN graduating from Batesville High School. She was taught in her beloved Catholic Faith by the Franciscan Priests and Sisters of Oldenburg, IN. On Easter Sunday 1950, Bea moved to Chicago to work in commercial furniture sales for Romweber Industries in the Merchandise Mart where she worked for twelve years. While living in Chicago she met her soul mate and love of her life, practicing attorney, Louis Rae Straub, Sr. After dating for several years, they married in Louisville at St. Anthony Catholic Church in 1962. Bea was very active in the Catholic Church, Bible studies, prayer groups, and her community. She and Louie were long time members of the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Society of St. Vincent De Paul, Eucarististic Minister, Catholic Charismatic Renewal, Charismatic Counselors, Father John T. Judie Ministries, and Right to Life. She hosted an ecumenical prayer group in her home for 26 years. She was also involved with the Bellarmine Women's Council and Greentree Homemakers Club.She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Louis Rae Straub, Sr., sons, Louis Rae Straub, II (Elizabeth), John Paul Straub (Robin), Matthew Sommers Straub (Susan); and her granddaughters, Madeline and Anna Claire Straub.Visitation will be from 1-5 p.m. Sunday, December 11 at Arch L. Heady and Son Funeral Home, 7410 Westport Road. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, December 12 at St. Bonafice Catholic Church, 531 East Liberty Street with burial following at Cave Hill Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Council of Louisville or the Bellarmine Women's Council.Please visit www.archlheadywestport.com to leave a condolence for the family.
