Barbara VeirtzChambersburgBarbara Ann Veirtz, 84, passed away April 11, 2017 at Providence Place Chambersburg. She was born on March 31, 1933 in Frederick , Maryland to Alonzo and LaFaesta (Cannon ) Specht. She was the widow of Charles Franklin Veirtz, who died in 1992. She moved to Chambersburg in 2005 and prior to that she lived in Frederick. She had been an active member of the Auxiliary of the Citizens Nursing Home and the Edgewood Church of God in Frederick. She loved quilting and gardening.She is survived by her two children, Rhonda Ann Veirtz of Chambersburg and Gary Alan (husband of Michele) Veirtz of St. Thomas. She has one grandson, Andrew Olin Veirtz; and a great-grandson; Thomas Alan Faith Veirtz. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by three sisters, Jane Zimmerman, Gloria Horst and Yvonne Pettit. Graveside services will be held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Frederick, MD on Saturday April 29 at 2 p.m. with Pastor Joseph Burdette officiating. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be sent to Edgewood Church of God, 8204 Edgewood Church Road, Frederick, MD 21702 or to the , 2595 Interstate Drive, Suite 100, Harrisburg, PA 17110.
