Barbara Triplett, a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on May 23, 2023, in Memphis, Tennessee, at the age of 73. Born on January 1, 1950, in Memphis, Barbara spent her entire life there, leaving a lasting impact on those who knew her.Barbara was the daughter of John and Mary Smith and grew up with her two siblings, Tommy and Linda. In 1968, Barbara graduated from Central High School in Memphis, where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. After graduation, she attended the University of Memphis, where she obtained a degree in education.Barbara met her husband, John Triplett, when they were both in college. They were married on June 5, 1972, and enjoyed 51 years of marriage together. Barbara and John had three children, Susan, Michael, and Lisa, and four grandchildren, Jonathan, Emily, Andrew, and Sarah. Barbara was passionate about spending time with her family, and she cherished every moment she got to share with them.Barbara was a devoted teacher, and she spent her entire career teaching at the same elementary school in Memphis. She loved her students and was dedicated to providing them with the best education possible. Her students loved her and looked up to her as a role model. Barbara was adored by many, and her passion for teaching had a significant impact on the lives of countless children.Barbara was a woman of faith, and she was actively involved in her church. She was a member of the choir and often volunteered for various church activities. Barbara had a kind and caring nature, and her love for others was evident in everything she did.Barbara was an avid reader and spent much of her free time reading books and discussing them with her friends. She also loved to travel and took many trips with her family over the years. Barbara was a talented chef and loved to cook for her family and friends. Her chocolate cake was legendary and something that everyone looked forward to when visiting her.Barbara will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her kind heart, infectious smile, and selfless nature will be remembered fondly by those whose lives she touched.Barbara is survived by her husband, John Triplett; her children, Susan, Michael, and Lisa; her grandchildren, Jonathan, Emily, Andrew, and Sarah; her brother, Tommy Smith; and her sister, Linda Williams.In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Barbara's memory to her church or to a charity of your choice.A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on June 2, 2023, at 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church in Memphis. All are welcome to attend and share their memories of Barbara.
