Arvan Ray Ashley was born on April 4,1956 in Los Angeles, attending Weigand Elementary, Markham Jr. High, and Jordan High School. After high school, Arvan attended Cal State University Long Beach where he received his degree in Business.

Arvan recieved his schooling in Los Angeles, attending, Weigand Elementary, Markham Jr. High, and Jordan High School. After high school, Arvan attended Cal State University Long Beach where ge recieved his degree in Business.

While attending Cal State University Long Beach, Arvan was introduced to the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity. He pledged and became a member in Spring 1974.

Arvan loved to cook and some of his favorite dishes were enchiladas, tacos, gumbo, fried chicken, and shrimp scampi over rice. Arvan loved to travel and was always ready for the next adventure. He loved going to the casiinos, fishing with friends, and playing cards. He loved a good party, wether it was with his Fraternity, friends or family. He was the life of the party and his jokes, and embellished stories were always plentiful. Arvan was happy seeing other people happy. If you were with him, he just wanted you to have a good time and dont strees.

Arvan had a business mindset and was a whiz at all financial matter. He was an expert Tax Preparer and enjoyed helping his clients with their tax issues.

Arvan had many nicknames: Arbo, Bodee, Ray, Toon and Toonski. His favorite phrase was "Aint Nuthin but a G thang BABYYYY"Arvan Ray Ashley was preceded in death by his mother Ocie Mae Thomas and father Elder Ashley. Arvan leaves to celebrate his homegoing, his daughter, Faith-Joel Ashley of Oklahoma Ciry, Oklahoma; Son, Arvan Ray Ashley II (Ray Ray); his daughters Mercedes and Alexis Ashley all of Los Angeles , California; three sisters Elander Brown, Zelma Higgs and Caroline Henry, and a host of nieces nephews and grandchildren.
