Kimbel, Lt. Col. Arthur H.Lt. Col. Arthur (Art) Harvey Kimbel, 70, passed away at home on April 7, 2017. Art was born on March 14, 1947 in Racine, Wisconsin to the late Major Harvey and Hazel (Severson) Kimbel. Art graduated from William Horlick High School in Racine, Wisconsin in 1965 and from the University of Wisconsin - Madison in 1970 with a major in Pharmacy. Art was a member of Kappa Psi Fraternity (Pharmacy) and ROTC (Distinguished Military Graduate). He was also an Officer in the Scabbard and Blade Military Honor Society, and he was commissioned as an Armored Officer in 1970.In 1969, he married Judy (Thoemke, now Lombard) and they had two sons together, Brian Arthur and Brent Alan. They later divorced. On August 15, 1986 Art married DeAnne (Pudge) Robinson and joined her children Donald (Guy) Robinson, Dianna (Robinson) Reinardy, and Ryan Robinson with his, creating the Kimbel-Robinson family. Art proudly served in the U.S. Army Reserve for 32 years. He was the Chief of Pharmacy Services for the 44th General Hospital, Madison and the 452nd Combat Support Hospital, Milwaukee, WI. Art also was deployed overseas in 1991 during Desert Storm as Chief of Pharmacy at the largest overseas Military Hospital in Landstuhl, Germany. He was a member of the VFW Burns Post #388 in Wausau, WI.In addition to his military career, Art worked as a Pharmaceutical Medical Representative in the Wausau area beginning in 1973 for Eli Lilly & Co. and retired from Merck & Co. in 2003. Unable to stay retired, Art became a part-time Pharmacist at 29 Super Pharmacy in Weston, WI, retiring in the fall of 2016. In 1993, Art and Pudge purchased a summer home on Clear Lake in Tomahawk, WI. They worked for almost two years renovating the home and then opened it as Kimbel's Point of View B&B in 1995. They operated the B&B for 13 years, closing the business in 2008 and aptly renaming the property Camp Kimbel. They treasured the memories and friendships with those they made during this wonderful venture in their lives, and have continued to enjoy making memories with family and friends up there.Through the years Art enjoyed spending time with his family, summers at the lake with his kids and grandkids ("Opa is the best noodle monster and pillow fighter in the world!"), making homemade waffles with ice cream (hey--it's breakfast!), building campfires, shooting off fireworks on the 4th of July, being captain of the pontoon boat, cheering on the Packers and Badgers, and traveling the world. Art was an active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he served as both Elder and Deacon, and he volunteered for Mobile Meals, Aspirus Hospital, and the Humane Society of Marathon County. In his younger days, he enjoyed deer hunting and bowling (where he was a League President for 20 years!).He is survived by his wife Pudge, their children, Guy (Shannon) Robinson, Ballwin, MO; Brian (fiancée Angi Ogiba) Kimbel, Elderon, WI; Dianna (Jerry) Reinardy, Wausau, WI; Brent Kimbel, Madison, WI; and Ryan (Tessa) Robinson, Salem, OR, and his grandchildren, Natalie and Luke Robinson, Maxwell and Zoe Reinardy, and David and Alex Kimbel who loved their "Opa" dearly. He is also survived by his sister, Arline (Jim) Sadlon, Rockford, IL, and his nephews Gregg (Tracy) Sadlon, their children Evan and Tia, Arlington Hts., IL and Ky (Claudia) Sadlon and their children Colin and Riley, Elgin, IL.A celebration of Art's life will be held on Wednesday, April 19th at First Presbyterian Church, Wausau, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00am to 11:30am with the Rev. Joy Nelson-Jeffers officiating the service at 11:30am. A private interment for family will be held at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove, WI.
