Schan, Arthur E. "Junie" Jr.,89, passed away Sunday November 12, 2017. He was a lifelong resident of the Auburndale neighborhood, born on May 17, 1928 to the late Arthur E. Schan Sr. and Elizabeth Wemes. He is preceded in death by his older sister, Mildred M Zanone. He retired from the L& N/ CSX Railroad after 43 years of service (1945-1988) at the South Louisville Yards on Floyd Street and also saw active duty in the Korean War as a member of the US Army. He was later employed part time by the Atherton Machine Co. and was a fixture at the South Louisville Body Shop for many years, where he will be greatly missed by the owner Alice Walker May and her employees. Junie is survived by several nieces and nephews including, Glenda Burak, Elizabeth Thompson, Margaret Faires and Mike Zanone.The funeral is 12 Noon Thursday at Joseph E Ratterman & Son, 7336 Southside Drive, with burial in Resthaven Memorial Park. Visitation is 10 am until noon Thursday.
