In Loving Memory of Arteace K. Murrell
Arteace Murrell, son of James and Patricia Murrell, was born on September 22, 2000, to Shanna Smith and Brian Stapleton. From the moment he entered this world, he carried a light that touched every life he encountered.
His faith and character were rooted early at Holy Trinity Church, where he was baptized and served faithfully for years as an Altar Boy. Arteace attended IPS Public and Montessori Schools 67 and 87.
On September 19, 2023, Arteace welcomed his greatest blessing- his daughter, Emerysn Paige Murrell, his beautiful “ Ray of Sunshine”. She remains the living embodiment of his joy, love, and legacy.
To know Arteace - lovingly called “Teace” - was to know loyalty, humor, compassion, and strength. He stood firm in his beliefs and fiercely protected the people he loved. Whether offering a listening ear, speaking words of encouragement, or showing up as someone’s biggest supporter, he made sure you felt seen and valued.
Arteace loved laughter and brought it effortlessly wherever he went. His jokes could bring a room to tears, and his presence filled gatherings with warmth. He never missed a family event or memorial and cherished every moment surrounded by the people who mattered most.
He enjoyed car shows, swimming, hiking, mudding, and finding peace in nature. His adventurous spirit and love for the outdoors were reflections of his wide-open heart.
In recent years, Arteace faced a confusing and frightening health journey. Through every uncertainty, he continued to pray and search for answers with courage and faith. On January 31st, at 3:46, though the answer came in a way none of us wanted nor expected, God called him home- granting him release from pain and welcoming him into enteral peace. Though our hearts ache, we find comfort in knowing that Arteace is now free, embraced by God’s love, reunited with his brothers, and resting in the peace he so deeply deserved. His spirit lives on. His memory is cherished. He is free.
