Anne Doris Storey Obituary

Dec 18, 1920 - Feb 06, 2010

This obituary is administered by:
Surrounded by her family, Anne Doris (Forenpohar) Storey, loving Mother and Grandmother, passed away February 6th, 2010, at the age of 89 in Cle Elum at the home of her daughter Marilyn Uribe.Anne was born on December 18th, 1920, in the Peoh Point area of Cle Elum, Washington, to John and Pauline (Yadro) Forenpohar. She was the youngest of the eight children, two boys and six girls.Anne often reminisced of growing up on Peoh Point. Some of her most precious memories included those of her riding her horse, Beauty, on Mt. Peoh, herding cows, tagging along with her siblings, and causing harmless trouble with her friends. When weather permitted Anne and her siblings walked to the two room, Peoh Point schoolhouse. However, Anne often spoke of the cold winter mornings when her oldest brother, Chuck, would hook up the team of horses to the sled and they would all ride to school through the deep snow. In the late 1930's after attending high school, Anne followed her sisters Mary, Emma, and Pat to San Pedro, California, to work on the Fort MacArthur Naval Base. When her father John became ill, Anne returned to Cle Elum to help support her mother Pauline. After returning to Cle Elum, Anne worked as a waitress at the Cle Elum Steakhouse and later became a favorite waitress at the Cottage Café. On their very first date, a Valentine's Day dance, in the late 1940's, Anne fell for the love of her life Earl Madison Storey. They married April 6th, 1949, in Tacoma, Washington, and made Cle Elum their home. They worked side by side as husband and wife, building and operating Storey's Service Station and Home Heating, a strong, friendly, family business they shared for 50 years before Earl's passing. The family business continues to serve the community, but now under the watchful eyes of both Earl and Anne.Anne is preceded in death by her husband Earl; parents John and Pauline; sisters, Mary Shavely, Emma Dassel, Edna Capps, Eve Erb, and Pat Cantrell; brothers, John and Chuck Forenpohar; grandson Travis Storey; and numerous nieces and nephews. Cherished and loved by her family who will miss her dearly, Anne is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Susanne (John) Basterrechea, Joanie (Gary) Mankus, and Marilyn (John) Uribe; grandchildren, Kim and Cole Basterrechea, Nick and Keri Mankus, Constance and Michael Uribe all of Cle Elum; stepson, Richard (Alice) Storey of Georgia, and children Kip, Kelly, Eric and their children. A hard working woman dedicated to her family, Anne always will be remembered by family and friends for her warm, friendly smile and kind, generous heart. The Rosary will be recited Friday, February 12th, at 7:00 p.m. at Saint John the Baptist Catholic in Cle Elum. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow on Saturday, February 13th, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church with Father Lawrence T. Reilly officiating.
