NEW FREEDOM Anne Catherine Kenney, 90, formerly of Frostburg, Md., passed away Saturday, January 10, 2015 at home. The funeral service will be held 12 p.m. on Friday, January 16, 2015 at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 44 E. Main St., Frostburg, Md. Interment will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery in Flintstone, Md. Anne was born on July 12, 1924 in Baltimore, the daughter of the late Owen J. and Margaret (Cummings) Nugent. she was the wife of the late Joseph E. Kenney. Anne graduated with highest honors from the former Seton High in Baltimore where she was also captain of the women's basketball team. She was a great crossword puzzle worker and published a crossword puzzle dictionary that is available at Barnes & Noble E-Book. Anne was also a seamstress, avid reader and exceptional baker. Survivors include her children, Nancy A. Stakem and her husband, Patrick of Laurel, Md., Robert E. Kenney and his wife, Lucinda H. of Harrisonburg, Va., Joseph A. Kenney of New Freedon and Margaret L. Mioduszewski; grandchildren, Brett P. Kenney, Caroline K. Hewitt, Patrick E. Stakem, Meredith A. Stakem and Mercedes Somich; great-grandchildren, James A. Hewitt, Eliza B. Hewitt and Braden Somich; sister, Sr. Maria Nugent, OSB, sacristan of Bethlehem, Conn. She was preceded in death by three sisters and five brothers.
