This obituary is administered by:
PRIESTLEY, Anna Willene Anna Willene Priestley died at her adult family home in Bellevue, WA, on October 27, 2016. She was 101. Willene was born on September 7, 1915, in Colfax, WA, the third of five children born to Robert Kingsley Squibb and Anna Maude (Smith) Squibb. Shortly after her birth, the family moved to Spokane. Willene graduated from North Central High School and Kinman Business College. She entered the workforce in 1936, working at sales and secretarial jobs in Spokane. Willene was active in youth programs at Knox Presbyterian Church in Spokane. It was there she met Ambrose Priestley, who was stationed in Spokane with the Army Air Corps. The two were married in Phoenix AZ in 1943, while Amby was in flight training. After the war, Willene and her family returned to Spokane and settled in Pasadena Park. She and Amby lived there, in the same house, for the next 60 years. Willene worked as a homemaker, raising three sons until the youngest was in high school. Then she returned to work as a secretary, first at Johnson Trailer Sales in the Spokane Valley, then at the Presbyterian Church, Synod of Alaska and Washington, in downtown Spokane. In retirement Willene was an active member of Millwood Presbyterian Community Church, the Spokane Audubon Society, and a quilting and tatting club. Willene will be remembered for her intense interest in others, a sympathetic ear, and her sometimes audacious sense of humor. She was skilled at painting and fabric arts. She was curious about the world and read many of her children's college text books, often more thoroughly than they had.Willene is preceded in death by Ambrose Priestley, her husband of 70 years (2014), and all of her siblings. She is survived by three sons, Ernest Priestley (Evelyn) of Seattle WA, Greg Priestley (Kim) of Renton WA, and Wesley Priestley (Margie) of Knoxville TN, and seven grand- children, Gilbert Priestley of Austin TX, Amy Priestley of Renton WA, Alex Priestley of Seattle WA, Anna Moles (Todd) of Knoxville TN, Mark Priestley of Nashville TN, Mary Francis Carufe (Joe) of Knoxville TN, and Sarah Varnell (Zach) of Knoxville TN.
