Ann C. BuchananAge: 75 • Staunton, VAAnn (Cook) Buchanan, 75, wife of Charles F. Buchanan, of 987 Cedar Green Road, passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 in Augusta Health in Fishersville.Mrs. Buchanan was born on December 10, 1941 in Staunton, Virginia, a daughter of the late Warren G. and Madeline (Hays) Cook.Ann was a life-long member of Hebron Presbyterian Church where she was a member of the Women of the Church and was in charge of the nursery for over 25 years. She retired from Augusta County Schools as a school teacher where she taught at Bessie Weller and Beverley Manor Elementary School. Mrs. Buchanan enjoyed cooking, working word puzzles and reading.In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Lucy Cook.Mrs. Buchanan was the last surviving member of her immediate family.Surviving in addition to her husband of 50 years is a son, Mark A. Buchanan and his girlfriend Cindy L. Miller; a daughter, Martha B. McFarlane and her husband Aaron of Staunton; a grandson, Andrew B. McFarlane all of Staunton; and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, May 7, 2017 in the Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory and other times at the residence.A Celebration of Life will be conducted 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 8, 2017 in the Hebron Presbyterian Church by Pastor Frank Wyche.Burial will follow in Hebron Church Cemetery.Active pallbearers will be Jay Mader, Johnny Mader, Scott Shomo, Bryan Shomo, Robert Cason, Roger Buchanan, Sr., Roger Buchanan, Jr., and Eric Buchanan.Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Marcum, Bobby Back, Don Hilti, Charles Shomo, Tim and Lori Malcolm, and friends attending the service.It is suggested those desiring make memorial contributions to Hebron Presbyterian Church, 423 Hebron Road, Staunton, Virginia 24401.Coffman Funeral Home and Crematory, 230 Frontier Drive, Staunton is in charge of her arrangements.Condolences may be expressed to the family online at www.coffmanfuneralhome.net.
