Angela Geathers,, of Columbia, South Carolina, passed on September 19, 2023. Angela was born on January 01, 1918 in Georgetown County, South Carolina, a daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth McBride Mickel and Abram Mickel. Her parents and nine siblings predeceased her.
She was educated in the Georgetown County public school system. At an early age she accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and joined Bethel A.M.E. Church of the North Santee community. Later in life she became a faithful member of Singleton Chapel A.M.E. Church where she served on the Senior Choir and was a stewardess.
On September 28, 1941, Angela was joined in holy matrimony to Fred Geathers. Together they reared nine children, including two grandchildren, Carmen and Tiffany. A grandchild, Aaron J. Geathers preceded his grandparents in death.
In 1958, Angela joined Commander Chapter #344, Order of the Eastern Star, and remained a faithful member.
She was loved by her family and she returned the love many times over. Her wisdom was shared with family and friends whenever they were in need of sound advice. Members of the community lovingly called her “Auntie Clack” and acknowledged her kind spirit and the generosity of her caring ways.
Well into her eighties Angela and her husband, continued to live independently with the support of their children and grandchildren. Illness intervened and forced the couple to live for three months with Tiffany and her family in Charlotte, North Carolina. Cleo and Carmen assisted with their care.
