Celebrate the memory and life of Amelia

Amelia Brown, age 77, of Garland, Texas, passed away on December 10, 2025.

She was born on January 7, 1948 in Haskell, Oklahoma, to the late William Lee Brown and Vernice Marion Brown.

Of her mothers siblings Odean, Lorene, Lloyd, Elwin and Floyd… Floyd Ransom (89) survived his niece, along with many of her nieces, nephews and cousins in both the Ransom and Brown families.

Her fathers siblings aunt Heavy, aunt Beaty, C Boy, Cecil, Kenny and Cornelius have all passed, yet she has several cousins still alive.

Amelia’s immediate family, she is survived by her two children, André D. Henderson, Sr. (his wife Shirley G. Henderson) and John Christopher Anderson, as well as her two beloved grandchildren… André Jr and John Anderson. Her extended family included Brandy Flowers and her children.

Of her siblings Edna, William Jr., Bill Thompson (adopted) and Kathy, she leaves behind their children Lynnette, James, Stevie, Misty, Debron, Tracy, Damario & Damen.

She attended John Burroughs, Carver and Central High School. She then furthered her education at Draughon School of Business and she also attended OSU… Oklahoma State University.

From there she left Oklahoma and moved to New York where she ran the office of OPM Leasing Services for many years, this is where she had her second son, John Christopher before eventually returning to Oklahoma.

Amelia dedicated many years of her life to her career at OPM, where she made a lasting impact on those around her.

In her free time, she enjoyed music, dancing and exploring new foods and dining at local restaurants, earning her the title of "Foodie”… She loved Golden Corral!

She was always into fashion and had a keen fashion sense and loved creating her own style!

Her soul was too pure for this planet, she exuded kindness where ever she went… So much so that I was often upset as she showed love to people that didn’t deserve it and her kindness was rarely returned by strangers.

But like her mother, she had a big heart and she loved big!! She loved her family and would often call them just to say I love you!

I regret the times I got so frustrated and said mean things, but even then, she would just say you didn’t mean that… And I didn’t!

And there would be times she would just say give me a hug and I would; I tried to make her remaining years as comfortable as possible… She was in my direct care since 2007, where she lived with me until her transition.

Amelia had very simple pleasures, going to thrift stores, laughing out loud, eating good food and talking about memories of her family.

Amelia will be remembered for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family.

She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

May she rest in peace.
