Steffen, age 92, a resident of the Felician Village Villas, Manitowoc, formerly of St. Nazianz, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.She was born on May 10, 1921 in the town of Charlestown, WI, daughter of the late Conrad and Agnes (Heiman) Woelfel. Alma attended St. Martin's Elementary School and was a graduate of Chilton High School, Class of 1939. On June 7, 1944 she married Arthur F. Steffen at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Charlestown. He preceded her in death on September 9, 2009. During her life, she raised her three children: Donna, Eugene & Joanne. She also worked at Tecumseh Products in New Holstein, retiring in 1983. Alma was a member of St. Gregory's Catholic Church. In 1999, Alma moved to Manitowoc and was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers, St. Clare Society and the Catholic Knights. Alma loved her garden, cooking, playing cards and bingo. Since she moved to the Villas, she enjoyed attending Mass everyday at the chapel at Felician Village.Survivors include one daughter and son-in-law: Joanne & Mark Gaedtke, Manitowoc; three granddaughters: Melissa (Mark) Baldwin, Manitowoc, Alyssa (Brad) Weber, Kellnersville, Kelsey Gaedtke, Manitowoc; two great granddaughters: Taylor & Teryn Baldwin; and two sisters-in-law: Magdaline Steffen and Delores Markowski. She was also preceded in death by a daughter: Donna Steffen; a son: Eugene Steffen; a sister: Celestine Woelfel; three brothers and sisters-in-law: Florian & Dorothy Woelfel, Roland & Sally Woelfel, Leonard & Marie Woelfel; and three sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law: Kathryn & George Bartel, Marcella & Gilbert Schill, Caroline & Robert Jaehnig and Leo Steffen.Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Patrick Nelson with burial to follow at St. Gregory Cemetery, St. Nazianz.The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz, on Saturday, September 14, 2013 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.Expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family by visiting www.pfefferfuneralhome.comThe Christianson & Deja Funeral Home, Valders, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.A special thank you to all of the staff at the Villas who were so kind and patient with Mom.
