Hiers, Allen L.Allen Lee Hiers died Friday, April 21, 2017 after a long illness. He was 82 years old. Allen was born on March 27, 1935 in Sheboygan to Lyman "Lee" and Lillian (Schmidt) Hiers. He lived most of his life in east central Wisconsin in the cities of Sheboygan and Appleton. He entered the army in November of 1957 serving with the 1st Howitzer Battalion 92nd at Fort Sill, Oklahoma. He married Rosemary Otto on February 18, 1958 in Lawton, Oklahoma whom he had met while working at Hills Department Store in Sheboygan. They were married for 56 years until her death on April 14, 2015. While in the Army he was stationed in Lawton, Oklahoma and Bad Kissingen, Germany. Allen was honorably discharged in1959. He worked as a manager at Robert Hall Clothes, Inc. in Joliet, Illinois; Milwaukee and Appleton, Wisconsin for the next few years, then as a clothing buyer at Mills Fleet Farm until his retirement in 1996. He enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing and was a talented wood worker. He made much of his own furniture and many gifts for family and friends. Allen is survived by his sons; Jeff (Rebecca), Timothy (Leann) and Scott (Lisa), grandchildren; Desiree and Ceara Heavener, Sarah, Courtney and Jack Hiers, his sister; Joyce Goedeke and her children and grandchildren. In keeping with his wishes, no service will be held. In lieu of flowers donations in his honor may be sent to The COPD Foundation at copdfoundation.org, The at cancer.org, or The at diabetes.org. A celebration of life for Allen and Rosemary will be held at a future date, which will be announced on social media.
