Allen S. JohnsonHanoverAllen S. Johnson, 62, died Friday November 27, 2015. He was the husband of Velinda A. (Heltebridle) Johnson, with whom he celebrated a 34th Wedding Anniversary on October 26th. A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, December 3, 2015 at St. Jacob's UCC Church, 100 E. George St., York New Salem, with the Rev. Rick Stuempfle officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church. Military rites by the York County Honor Guard will precede the service. Burial will be held at the convenience of the family. Mr. Johnson was born on June 15, 1953 in Kenmare, N.D. and was a son of the late Alvin M. and Ella M. (Hansen) Johnson.He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and had been employed as a Plant Manager for Leister's Furniture Company in Hanover for over 15 years.He was a member of the Battlefield Harley Owners Group and the National Harley Owners Group. He also was a member of FIFA Soccer and refereed local Soccer leagues and had been a coach in the Conewago Valley Basketball Association.Allen is also survived by two sons, Alex W. Johnson and his wife, Carly of San Angelo, Texas and Anthony J. Johnson and his fiancé, Tonya Giacone of Spring Grove; four grandchildren, Aiden, Isaiah, Ezra and Mia; three sisters, Carmin Daryman and husband, Barry of Jacobus, Adele Haaland and husband, Jim of Berthold, N.D. and Gail Elser and husband, Marc of Ennis, Mont.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
