We are gathered here today to mourn the passing of Allen Reed, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Born on August 17, 1950, in Los Angeles, California, Allen lived a life filled with laughter, love, and service to others.
Allen, the son of Nelson Reed Sr and Annie May Bullock, married his devoted wife Annette L Reed in 1983. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Evelyn Shawn Carter and Charles Marjo Carter. Allen was also a proud grandfather to 10 grandchildren Marcus Allen Bailey Ryan Bailey Tia'ra Bailey Dakota Carter Elias Carter Nathaniel Carter Emmanuel Carter Adriana Carter and Jocelyn and Leilani and several great grandchildren.
After graduating from Perris High School in 1969, Allen went on to work as a detention officer at the 77 Police Department, where he served with dedication and honor until his retirement in 2004. In addition to his career in law enforcement, Allen was actively involved in the Always Helping Others organization, where he touched countless lives in his community.
Allen's selfless dedication to serving others did not go unnoticed, as he was awarded the key to the city of Los Angeles for his exemplary service. In addition to his civilian accomplishments, Allen proudly served in the United States Army, demonstrating his unwavering commitment to his country.
When he wasn't busy serving his community and country, Allen enjoyed hobbies such as cooking, traveling, betting on horses and bedding. His zest for life and willingness to help others made him a beloved figure in his community, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
As we say goodbye to Allen Reed, let us remember the impact he had on the world around him and strive to carry on his legacy of kindness, generosity, and service to others. Rest in peace, Allen.
