Allan was born on September 23, 1942 in Newton and raised by his parents, Arno and Lillie Edler.Allan retired from Fisher Controls in Marshalltown after many years of service. He enjoyed car racing, snowmobiling, ISU Football, his precious cats, and spending time with his family.Allan is survived by his children, Troy (Deena) Davis, Teresa (Reed) Hiemstra, Paul (Debbie) Edler, Tracy (Annette) Davis, and Tonia (Dennis) Ackerman; son-in-law, Ted Poulsen; fifteen grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and a host of other loving family and friends.He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy Edler; son, Mark Edler; mother, Lillie Edler; and father, Arno Edler.Visitation will be held on Tuesday November 15, 2016 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, November 16, 2016 at Hamilton's Altoona Funeral Home, 105 4th Street SW, Altoona, with burial to follow at Hillside Cemetery in State Center.
