Alice (Holton) Booker was born to Ernest Keith and Marjorie Tucker- Booker, April 12, 1934 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Having lost her mother at the tender age of 5 she was raised by her father’s family in North Philadelphia.  Alice worked hard to get through school. She finished college with an associate degree. Alice worked as a secretary to a real estate developer and the Philadelphia school system until her entrepreneurial spirit led her to open various businesses across Philadelphia. When this was no longer fulfilling she took a leap of faith to Atlantic City where she became a Food and Beverage Manager.  Over her 20 plus years career she worked at Trump Plaza, The Tropicana, The Sands, Taj Mahal Casino and Resorts. After many years of service, she was injured, when she took a fall while working which forced her to retire. Not satisfied with retirement she moved back to Philadelphia where she opened a convenience store at 47th and City Line.

Alice never let any grass grow under her feet so in 2013 when her health started to decline, she decided it was time to escape the harsh winters in Philadelphia, to enjoy living closer to her daughter Alycia in Sunny Isles Beach, Florida. There Alice continued her zest for life making new friends and building a life for herself living in Marian Towers Catholic Homes and renewed her faith by joining St. Mary Magdalen Catholic Church.  Over Alice’s lifetime her beautiful smile and kind heart won over many friends. Alice enjoyed spending time with her daughter and friends having a meal, shopping, laughing and exploring the city.  

On July 18, Alice unexpectedly took ill and on the 20th of July at 9:16am Alice was called home to be with her maker, friends, family and the loves of her life. Alice is survived by her daughter Alycia (Holton) Lerer, son in law Dr. Allan Fields, son Antonio Booker, 3 grandchildren, her first cousin Arlene Wright, her beloved Bichon Frise Abby, and a host of friends and family.
