Alice Chitty, 95Alice Chitty, 95, formally of Chalmers, IN, passed away on October 6, 2016 at Westminster Village of West Lafayette. Alice was born on August 6, 1921, in Arenzville, Illinois. The family moved to Lynnwood Farm, in Carmel, Indiana in 1937. Alice graduated from Purdue in 1943 and began her career as a school teacher in Brookston. The majority of her working career was as a Home Extension Agent in White County. She was the first woman inducted into the White County Agricultural Hall of Fame. She was an avid promoter of the 4-H Clubs.Alice was preceded in death by her parents, Charles H. Nickel and Esther Gustafson Nickel; her husband, Richard Chitty of Chalmers; her brother, George Nickel of Noblesville; her sister, Dorothy Nickel Wheeler of Evansville; and her nephew Walter Chitty of Brookston. She is survived by her brother, Wilbur Nickel of Indianapolis, and also 4 nephews, 4 nieces, and numerous great and great great nephews and nieces. The calling will be Monday, October 10, 2016 at 2 PM (EST) at Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston, Indiana, followed by Funeral Services at 3 PM (EST).In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Chalmers Community Church or to the 4-H Foundation through the funeral home.
