Weideman, Alfred E.Alfred E. Weideman, age 71, passed away on Friday, December 2, 2016 at Ministry Saint Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield, from injuries sustained in an accident. A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2016 at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. The Reverend Don Bruce and Reverend Dr. Gary Paul will officiate. Nieces and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm on Friday December 9, 2016 at the Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday at the church. Alfred was born on June 18, 1945 to Edwin A. and Esther S. (Mueller) Weideman in the Town of Holton, WI. He attended Abbotsford Elementary School and was a 1964 graduate of Dor-Abby High School. Alfred married Bonnie Melvin on November 28, 1975 at Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. They farmed in the Abbotsford-Colby area. After farming, Alfred worked for Wausau Homes in Wausau for 18 years before he retired.Alfred was a lifetime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Abbotsford. He was an usher and served on various committees and he built a flower bed display for the 75th church anniversary. He also created a Christmas nativity display for many years.Alfred was an active member of Abbotsford Jaycees, serving in many capacities including president. He also had a mixed couple's softball team in Abbotsford for years. He enjoyed all sports including bowling and skiing. He was passionate about pool and watching Badger and Packer football games. Alfred was a member of the area church dartball teams and often kept the records for the games and arranged for the trophies for the yearly banquets. He took pride in his work, always trying to help others along. Alfred loved people. He liked talking with friends and relatives and meeting new people. Alfred helped organize many high school class reunions and family reunions. He had an infectious laugh and loved a good story.Alfred's happiest role was that of "Grandpa." His pride and deepest joy were his four grandkids. He enjoyed playing chess with Will, hosting tea parties with Brenna and playing trucks and reading books to James and Samuel.He will be lovingly missed by his family and friends. Alfred is survived by his wife, Bonnie of Unity; daughter, Laurie (John) Gentrup of Golden Valley, MN; four grandchildren, William, Brenna, James and Samuel. He is further survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Julian (Judy) Tomesch and James Katz of Atlanta, GA; and brothers, Donald (Jan) Weideman of Portage and Roger (Brenda) Weideman of Abbotsford; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dennis Weideman and nephew, Cody Weideman.The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Abbotsford is entrusted with the arrangements.Family and friends may express condolences online at www.maurinaschilling.com.
