Alfonso A. AlfanoAGE: 78 • MiddletownAlfonso A. Alfano - 78 of Middletown, NJ passed away peacefully with his family by his side on May 11, 2017 at his home after a long courageous battle with cancer. Al was born on November 15, 1938 in New York, New York and raised in Norwood, New Jersey. He graduated from Tenafly High School in 1956 and soon thereafter began working at Citibank. He was employed by Citibank for the next 43 years in various positions and retired in 2000 as Vice President. Al and his wife Sheila moved to Middletown in 1969 to raise their family. He is predeceased by his parents Frank and Frances Alfano and his sister Gertrude Larkin. He is survived by his wife Sheila for 54 wonderful years. He is the devoted father to his 4 children and their spouses: Marifrances & Tom Burton, Michael & Denise Alfano, Kathleen & Matt Flemming and Suzanne & Bob Corcoran. He is survived by his loving sister Ann Marie Russo and many cousins, nieces and nephews. He is also survived and blessed with 9 grandchildren: Thomas, Caitlin, Alison, Jonathan, Alex, Ryan, Danny, Kelly, and Drew. Al was very generous & supported many organizations. In lieu of flowers he requested friends and relatives to make a donation to their favorite organization.Al will be reposing at the Evergreen Memorial Funeral Home 1735 Route 35, Middletown, NJ 07748. On Sunday May 14, 2017 from 4 - 8pm. A Mass of Christian burial will take place on Monday May 15, 2017 at St. Mary's Chapel at 9:15am. Interment will be private.
