Czech, Alex "Al"Alex "Al" Czech, 89, Green Bay, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2017 due to congestive heart failure and various health issues that he battled for many years. The world has lost a gentle loving man who was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and kind man to his parents, extended family and friends.Al was born on July 16, 1927, in Krakow, WI to Martin and Victoria (Lees) Czech. He attended Krakow schools and graduated from Pulaski High School in 1945. On June 14, 1956, Al married his "one and only love", Shirley Niec. They would have celebrated 61 years together in June.Al worked at the Pulaski Shoe Factory until he was called to service with the U. S. Army during the Korean War. When he returned in 1953, Al began his business, Al Czech Excavating, in the Green Bay area. Al also built a car-crusher and cleaned many a salvage yard in Wisconsin and Michigan.Al and Shirley loved traveling on his Harley motorcycle and was able to experience a few traveling vacations because of it. He was a dedicated hunter and NRA member. Al enjoyed elk hunting with his sons in Idaho and other hunting and fishing excursions, as well as target practice with his grandson, Andrew.Al was quiet by nature, but had a big heart and great smile. He was a devoted family man and proudly took Shirley on dream trips to Hawaii, New York City, Seattle, New Orleans, Las Vegas, San Antonio, TX, Canada, Mexico, Washington D.C., and California. Their life together was a grand adventure.Al is survived by his wife, Shirley; sons: Brad Czech, Eagan, MN; Dr. Brian Czech, PHD, Arlington, VA; grandson, Andrew Czech (son of Brad), Madison, WI; and various nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.He was preceded in death by his parents, Martin and Victoria Czech; stepfather, Edmund Guszak; brothers, Albert and Edward; sisters, Cecile and Susan; and his in-laws, Joseph and Lottie Niec; and brother-in-law, Jim Niec.Friends may call at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2771 Oakwood Dr., from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the church with Rev. Paul Demuth officiating. Blaney Funeral Home is assisting the family.
