Aileen Chambers Minkler passed away on Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at the age of 91.Aileen was loved as a wife, mother, grandmother, neighbor and friend. Her life was one of generosity, unconditional love, encouragement, service and honesty.Aileen was born on Feb. 14, 1922, in Smithfield, Utah to Tacy (Toolson) and George Chambers. She had a happy childhood growing up with her sisters and brothers in Smithfield. Living on a farm they learned how to work hard, a quality that followed Mother her entire life. Aileen graduated from North Cache High School and went on to complete beauty school. For decades she generously gave "perms" to her family members.She married the love of her life, Ray Andrew Minkler on Dec. 23, 1941. Aileen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in numerous positions. She has particularly been remembered for her long service as a Relief Society President in the Logan 20th Ward. In later years she and Ray served as officiators in the Logan Temple. They also had the blessing of serving on a Work Service Mission. Her greatest service of her life was to her son, Jim, as she allowed him to live a productive and fulfilling life.Aileen is survived by her loving, dedicated husband Ray Andrew Minkler; her son, Ray George Minkler, (Rita) of River Heights; two daughters, of Logan, Linda Peterson (Jay) and Dorothy Davis; 11 grandchildren, and 35 great-grandchildren, each of whom knew they were her favorite! Aileen is also survived by three sisters; Tacy Ballam (Oral), Ruth Harrison (Dean), and Faye Shupe (LeGrande), and one brother, Lennis Chambers (Drue).She was preceded in death by her son; James Rodney Minkler, who for 23 years, Aileen and Ray cared for following a football injury that left him quadriplegic. This proved to be the ultimate work of her life. She was also preceded in death by a granddaughter, Tacy Faye Davis, by a brother, Ferris Chambers, (Ruth) and two sisters, Alice Poppleton, (Garnel), and Mary Bair, (Scott).Aileen looked forward to their family gatherings every Sunday night at their home. She loved sports and watching her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in them. She really enjoyed the Aggie Basketball games and had reserved seats for many years. In 2004 Ray and Aileen were honored with the USU Aggie Alumni award. Aileen loved to read, take a little afternoon nap, have a bowl of Aggie Ice Cream and a good friendly game of Rook! Truly her legacy lives on in all of us!Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Sept. 7, in the 43rd ward Chapel 1255 N. on 600 East in Logan. Friends may call at the church between 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. on Saturday morning. Interment will be in the Logan Cemetery. Funeral directors are Allen-Hall Mortuary.
