Adelaide (Midge) Spratling, beloved wife, mother and friend passed away on October 20, 2016 at The Oaks in Athens, Georgia. She was born on May 1, 1929 in Jersey City, New Jersey to the late Colonel Walter Bartlett and Adelaide Bartlett. An Athens resident since 1971, she worked at the University of Georgia for a number of years as an administrative assistant to Dean Rusk, the 54th US Secretary of State. Midge was a longtime member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church and she volunteered at The Ark and supported a number of community service organizations. Midge is preceded in death by her husband, William (Bill) of 62 years and her two sons, Bill Todd and Robert. She is survived by her daughter, Linda, and husband, David of Alexandria, VA; her daughter-in-law, Kelly, and her three wonderful grandchildren: Robin, Laura and Jonathan; and her nephew, Johnny and nieces, Pat and Libby.A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 28, 2016 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church, 800 West Lake Drive, Athens, GA 30606, with family receiving friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
