Ada Schrecengost, age 95, of Brookville PA, passed away at the Penn Highlands Brookville Hospital on Sunday, February 21, 2016. She was born on August 24, 1920, to the late Henry W. and Myrtle L. (Rhody) Hodge, in Lawrenceburg, Tennessee. She was married to Charles Irwin Schrecengost, who precedes her in death. Throughout her life she was primarily a homemaker and she enjoyed that work. She loved frequent outings going from one yard sale to another and she was a collector of dolls as well as "knick-knacks". Ada liked to travel, but more than all of these things, she loved her grandchildren. She enjoyed reading to them, and playing games with them. Ada is survived by 2 daughters, Catherine (Wes) Harriger and Pat Skinner; 2 sons, Charles (Linda) Schrecengost, and Lemuel "Cliff" Schrecengost; 16 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by all eight of her brothers and sisters; she was the youngest of all the siblings; Her son-in-law Dallas Skinner, and her daughter Barbara (Donald) Himes. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday February 23, 2016, from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home, 345 Main St., Brookville PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, February 24, 2016, beginning at 11am and officiated by the Rev. Henry Scoff, also at the McKinney - d'Argy Funeral Home. Interment will take place at the Roseville - Bethel Cemetery, in Union Twp., Jefferson Co.
