WILMA R. GROOM, 86 WARREN - Wilma R. Groom, 86, of Warren, IL, passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2014, at the Stephenson Nursing Center in Freeport. Wilma was born on February 15, 1928, in rural Stockton, IL. She was the daughter of Walter and Mary Ellen (O'Halloran) Creighton. Wilma was a graduate of Stockton High School and attended Iowa State Teacher's College. She married Clyde Groom on June 14, 1948, in Stockton, IL. Wilma was employed by the Warren Public Library and served as the head Librarian. She was a former teacher, 4-H Leader and a CCD teacher. She was a member of St, Ann Catholic Church, Altar & Rosary Society and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 464. She is survived by her husband, Clyde; two sons, Gregory (Deborah) Groom of Freeport and Joel (Vickie) Groom of Shullsburg, WI; one daughter, Jiliane (Jacob) Hoekstra of Paw Paw, MI; grandchildren, Timerlee Haas, Ian (Claire) Groom, Rhianon Groom, Keith (JaVon) Jason, Brooke (Bruce) Meddaugh, Dana Groom, Cory Groom, Jason Champion, Carie (Ryan) Brandon, Natalie Althoff, Corie (Chris) Ingram, Robert Hoekstra, John Hoekstra, J.R. (Kathi) Hoekstra and Tammi (Darryl) Ouzoonian; twenty great-grandchildren; brothers, Cecil and Norman Creighton; sister, Marita Moore. She was proceeded in death by her parents; daughter, Charl Groom; and brother, Regis Creighton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 9, 2014, at St. Ann Catholic Church in Warren. Visitation will be from 4 until 7 pm. Thursday, May 8, 2014, with a rosary to start at 3 p.m. at the Bartell-Leamon Funeral Home. Officiating will be Father Max Striedl. Burial will be at St. Ann Cemetery. A memorial has been established in her name for the American Legion Student Scholarship Fund. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.leamonfh.com.
