Mr. William Oren Ashley, Jr. better known as "Bill" age 87, of Jefferson, died on Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Margate Health and Rehab Center. Mr. Ashley was born on October 26, 1928 in Warrensville, to William Oren and Bertha Taylor Ashley. Mr. Ashley was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Gay Reed, Jean Wilson, three brothers, Paul Ashley, Charles Ashley and David Ashley. Mr. Ashley served in the U.S. Army during the Korean era. He retired from Ashe Federal Bank in 1994 as President of the bank. Bill was a active member of Jefferson United Methodist Church, singing in the choir and serving as a Stephens Minister. Mr. Ashley cared for his community, he was past board member of Ashe Memorial Hospital Foundation and was a member of the Jeffersons Rotary Club for over 50 years. Bill was known for his giving and kind personality and will be missed.

Funeral services were held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Jefferson United Methodist Church by Rev. Peter Parish and Rev. Karen Miller. Inurnment will be in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Columbarium. The family received friends following the service at the Church.

Mr. Ashley is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Pearl James Ashley, also surviving are several nieces and nephews.
