Pastor William "Bill" E. MyersMarch 9, 1956 - July 24, 2017ShippensburgPastor William E. Myers, 61, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, July 24, 2017. Bill was born on March 9, 1956, in Chambersburg. He was the son of Glenn W. and the late Bernice "Marie" Myers of Newburg.He was married to the love of his life, Loni Reed Myers, on August 21, 1982 and as a gift, sang to his bride, "Let's take the Long Way Around the World", by Ronnie Milsap. Bill continued to share his love of music by singing in local churches.Bill will be greatly missed by Loni, his wife of 35 years; two daughters, Tara and husband, Brandon Ramsey of Harrisburg and Shaina and husband, Derek Witter of Newburg; two grandchildren, Collin Ramsey and Makenzie Marie Witter; beloved sister, Deb and husband, Dan Timmons of Shippensburg; father Glenn Myers; and many other family members.Bill spent many enjoyable years working on the family farm in Newburg, before answering the call to Christian ministry. Bill served as a chaplain at the Chambersburg Hospital and The Shook Home, also in Chambersburg. He attended Winebrenner Seminary and was ordained as a Pastor, previously serving at the Shippensburg First Church of God, and currently at the Newburg First Church of God, as Pastor of Nurture and Care. Bill especially enjoyed visiting and encouraging older adults, and ministering to children in the pioneer clubs.Bill was an avid hunter and sports fan who enjoyed following Penn State football and Orioles baseball. Bill collected PA Game Commission wildlife patches and baseball cards.Friends and family are invited to attend a service to celebrate Pastor Bill's life, which will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2017, at 2 p.m., at the Newburg First Church of God.In lieu of flowers, please consider a contribution in memory of Pastor Bill to the Newburg First Church of God.Online condolences may be expressed at
