William Robert McGowanLaingsburgWilliam R. McGowan, age 67 of Laingsburg passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at McLaren Hospital in Lansing.A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017 at 1 P.M. at Watkins Brothers Funeral Home, Laingsburg Chapel with Dr. Rev. Marvin Westfall and Rev. Art Bush officiating  Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.Will was born on July 27, 1949 in Fairhope, PA, the son of James and Emma (Getchell) McGowan.  He was a 1967 graduate of Belle Vernon Area High School in Belle Vernon,  PA and received a Bachelor's Degree from Great Lakes Bible College, Lansing, MI in 1971.   On May 31, 1975 he married Carol Tisdale in Lansing.  He retired from Meijer as a Loss Prevention manager in 2004 and DK Security in 2013.  He was a Sergeant of the Laingsburg Reserve Police Dept. for 23 years.William is survived by his wife, Carol, children, Matthew (Sarah) McGowan and Emma (Anthony) Garibaldi, sisters, Jenny Roberts, Lee DiCenzo, Kathryn Angelo and Darleen (Rich) Angelo.  He was predeceased by sister, Emma Jean McGowan and brother, James McGowan.  Memorial contributions are suggested to the Laingsburg Police Reserves.  On-line condolences can be sent to www.watkinsfuneralhomes.com
