William Edward (Bill) Ray William Edward (Bill) Ray, 86, of Bluffton, SC, passed away on June 26,2016 at the NHC center in Bluffton. Bill was born on June 2,1930 in Spruce Pine, NC to the late Glenn Ray and Edith Noblet Ray. Bill was a graduate of Lee Edwards High School and Asheville Business College. He worked for Selective Sales, a vending company where he soon became its President. When it was acquired he became a regional manager for Macke a much larger firm where he worked for many years. From 1990-1995 he worked for Raycom Sports as its facility manager. Bill enjoyed sports especially golf and his UNC Tar Heels. He was frequently seen in his UNC ball cap. Bill was married for 66 years to Betty Queen Ray who passed away in February 2016 and is survived by son Rick and Daughter- in - law Dee Ray of Hilton Head, grandchildren Bill Ray and wife Amelia Favre, Deanna Ray Vito and husband Dominic Vito all of Washington DC, Krista Ray of New York City, Gail Ray Ehrler and husband Chuck Ehrler and their daughters Jessica Compass, Ellana Turner and Carlie Ehrler, all of Phoenix. Bill, a kind and gentle soul, is now with the Lord. Memorial donations may be sent to Tidewater Hospice in Bluffton SC.
