Willard G. ThompsonMOUNT PERRY: Willard G. Thompson, 93, of Mount Perry, passed away Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at The Oaks at Northpointe.He was born on July 26, 1921 on Amish Ridge Rd. near Mount Perry. He graduated from Glenford High School in 1940. He served his country from July 1942-June 1943. Willard was a lifelong farmer, a school bus driver, and also had worked for Vandenbark Coal, A.K. Wilson, Thoburn and Glenn Krofft, Friel Coal Company, New Somerset Bank, was an oil well pumper and in retirement he enjoyed woodworking. He married Wilma Spence on December 22, 1945. He was also a life member and Elder of Mount Perry Presbyterian Church and was a choir member since the age of 16 and active in the Men's Chorus.He is survived by three children, Joy (Dick) Boring of Thornville, Jon (Sandy) Thompson of Buckeye Lake, and Jo Lynn Thompson of the home; two grandsons, Rich (Shari) Boring and Justin Boring both of Thornville; eight great grandchildren, Emily Boring, Tristin Boring, Chase Boring, Jason Whitmer, Ashley (Ricky) Wright, Lauren Whitmer, Brian Whitmer, and Brandon Roberts; two great-great grandchildren, Hunter and Hayden Wright; one nephew, Kirby (Cindy) Thompson of Zanesville, one niece, Jenna (Robbie) Robeson of Franklin, TN; great niece, Abigail Robeson, great nephew, Nathan Robeson; special friends, Marjorie Ream, Eva May and Jack Rhodes, and Cindy Barrera. He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma (Spence) Thompson on January 7, 2005; his parents, Harvey and Margaret (Sterrett) Thompson; a brother, Richard Thompson; a sister-in-law, Virginia Thompson; granddaughter, Ginger Roberts; two nephews, Randy Thompson and Jeff Thompson.Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015 at William Thompson & Son Funeral Home, 5765 Gladstone Drive, White Cottage. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 3, 2015 at Mount Perry Presbyterian Church, 13099 Church St., Mount Perry, Ohio 43760.
