NORTHPORT – Wilburn Gary Grammer, age 77, died October 24, 2016 at home. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday, October 27, 2016. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial park. Visitation will be Wednesday, October 26, 2016 from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel directingHe was preceded in death by his parents.Survivors include his wife, Joan Grammer; daughters, Angela Pennington, Donna Fair (Max), Karen Patton, and Cynthia Grammer; son, Wilburn Gary Jr. (Bonnie); brother, Larry Grammer; grandchildren, Kelly Brunner, Randy Grammer, Tiffiney Barger, Pamela Barger, Misty Wood, Ashely Grammer, Casey Grammer, Tracey Taylor, Julie Salan, Mindy Fair, Cory Patton, Justin Grammer, Dylan Patton, Electra Plowan and Joanie Plowman.Wilburn went to heaven to be with the Lord on his birthday, October 24, he was born on October 24, 1939. He was a River Boat captain, sometimes called ""coal hauler"". He worked on the river for 45 years. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and had 20 great grandchildren. They loved him very much and he loved them the same. Most everyone called him ""Papaw"".Pallbearers will be Travis Taylor, Charlie Proctor, Steve Proctor, Justin Grammer, William Massengale and Jon Coleman.Honorary Pallbearers will be employees of Complete Care Hospice.
