She worked a short time at Phil Slater's Cafe, in Matthews, IN, and sold Avon. For many years, at the Matthews Covered Bridge Festival, she brought smiles and laughter dressed as a clown, strolling the fairgrounds handing out candy to children. She continued her avid sports enthusiasm by following the Purdue Boilermakers, and the Indiana Pacers. Rumor has it, during exciting games, she could get quite emotional and, occasionally, physical. In her quieter moments, she enjoyed gardening and yard work. And, she was an expert finder of four-leaf clovers. For over 40 years, she and Paul traveled the country to attend concerts of her musical love, Rex Allen, Jr.Wanda enjoyed deer-spotting and bird watching. She maintained a variety of birdfeeders outside her kitchen window. When around bodies of water, she was always on the lookout for cranes and herons. Her love for life, her laughter, her smiles, and her devotion to her family will be deeply missed, and richly remembered.A memorial celebration will be held on Saturday, November 4, at the Matthews Community Center (the old elementary school, at 816 Wisconsin Ave.).
