Walter "Doc" Kirkbride Jr.ZANESVILLE: Walter "Doc" Kirkbride of Zanesville passed away Sunday January 10, 2016 at Genesis Hospital after a brief illness. He was born on August 30, 1922 in Noble County, OH the son of Walter Kirkbride Sr. and mother Matilda (Wickham) KirkbrideHe served his community proudly as a boat dealer, known as the "Man on the River" Doc knew everyone as a friend. He was a faithful Brother of the free and accepted Masons, attending lodge Amity #5 in Zanesville, OH and served his country proudly in the United States
Army, a Veteran of
WWII, he was also an avid outdoors enthusiast. He was a graduate of Sarasville High School. He is survived by his children; Jeffrey Scott Kirkbride, of the home, three daughters: Ardath Tandy Kirkbride McMahon, Zanesville, Kathy Jo (Stephin) Folden, Zanesville, and Kimberly Ann Kirkbride, Zanesville, and many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Doc was preceded in death by the "Love of his life, and wife of 60 years "Artie", who died in August of 2002, his father and mother, his grandson Daniel Lee Mercer, and a granddaughter Kelly Ann Hutchison.Friends may call 6-8 pm on Tuesday January 12th 2016, at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home, 2318 Maple Ave. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday January 13, 2016.
