Dawson was born July 31st, 1952 to the union of Maggie Dawson and Willie Dawson who both proceeded him in death along with 1 sister Doris Dawson, 3 brothers, Henry Dawson, Cleveland Dawson, and Floyd Dawson, also a mother in law Earline Dawson and 2 father in-laws Dave Barber Sr. and Willie Jordan.

Willie accepted Christ at an early age. He and his wife Amelia joined hands in holy matrimony in 1971. They later decided to move to Chicago with only 1 child at the time in 1973 to start their own family. Willie became a welder at National Casting on Chicago's West side for 35 years. He loved to spend his free time in his garage which hecalled his "Man Cave" socializing with his friends, drinking his beers and watching T.V. Willie made his transition into eternal life on February 3, 2020 at 12:18 a.m.

Willie Dawson leaves to cherish his memories to his wife Amelia Dawson; 9 children Tracy Dawson, Corey Dawson (Serita Robinson), Ivan Dawson (Tiffany Dawson), Katrina Dawson (O.TWilliams) Kiara Dawson, Shalena Dawson, Lavonte Dawson, Tiffany Shaw, and Shaquille McGraw; 1 brother Walter Dawson (Evelyn Dawson) 1 sister Johnnie Granderson (Dolton IL) 23 grandchildren Steven Dawson, Kelly Dawson, Trina Dawson, Sherry Dawson, Lolita Jones, Carrie Hill, Daniel Dawson, Larry Dawson, Nayson Felts, Carla Dawson, Kim Dawson, Veoila Harris, Cheryl Robins, Ronnie Jordan, Gregory Dawson, Cynthis Dawson, Alexander Jones, Terrance Jones, Derrick Jordan, Bethany Dawson, Ebony Jones, Sandy Dawson, Sarah Matthews. 10 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and many many friends.
