This obituary is administered by:
Vivienne ShrollMay 16, 1924 - June 6, 2015Vivienne Shroll, daughter of Louis J. Adams and Cecil Jordan Adams, was born on May 16, 1924 in Coleridge, Nebraska. She passed to a better life on June 6, 2015 after a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer's disease.Vivienne moved to Idaho in 1936 with her family, attended school in Kuna and graduated from Nampa High School in 1941. After high school she worked in the tray room at Mercy Hospital. She was married to Willard Shroll on September 8, 1942. Willard passed away in 2004.Willard was a farmer and she was his help mate. They moved several times throughout their life together, but always stayed in the Nampa area. Together they raised six children. Vivienne was an excellent cook and a seamstress (how else could you clothe six children in those lean years?). She somehow found time for needlework as well; crocheting, embroidery, needlepoint. She crocheted afghans for each of her grandchildren's high school graduation gift as well as for several special kids along the way. Oh, how she loved to play cards. Her pinochle group played together for 50 years. She played cards with the Upper Deer Flat Firettes group and Nampa Lady Elks for many years. At the drop of a hat, she would play any card game or dominoes with her grand and great grandchildren. She was a collector of salt and pepper shakers. The collection was inherited from her mother-in law Belle Shroll and grew to over 400 pairs. Countless pencils were worn down while she was doing crossword and jumble puzzles.Vivienne belonged to and held offices in many community organizations, including: The Sunny-Can-Ida Club, Community Club, Lifetime Member of Nampa Lady Elks, Mother's Club, Bennett and Scism Community Clubs, and Upper Deer Flat Firettes. Together with Willard, she was a 4-H leader for seven years, including calling for the Circle 8 Square Dancers in the Scism community. They were also members of the Good Sam Gem Sprouts since 1982 and Highline Star Grange. They especially enjoyed volunteering with fellow Gem Sprouts for the Special Olympics. Many years were spent working on the election board. They drove pilot cars several times when their son was driving trucks with oversize loads. They logged many miles pulling their travel trailer both on Good Sam trips and trips with friends and family. But, her most favorite place to travel was Hawaii and she was fortunate to visit several times. She would sit for hours listening to Hawaiian music and appreciated all things Hawaiian. Vivienne is survived by her children: Beverly and Monte McClure, Jerry and June Shroll, Wayne and Cheryl Shroll, Judy and Ron Loughmiller, Vicki and Steve Martineau, Pam and Steve Johnson. She is also survived by her sisters, Darlyne Potter of Chico, California, Lorrayne and Calvin Liu of Honolulu, Hawaii; sisters-in-law, Doris Brown, Charlene Baltzor, Peggy and Bud Suttle of Nampa. Also surviving are 26 grandchildren, 38 great grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Willard; parents Lou and Cecil Adams; brother Eldon Adams; granddaughter Shelly Rosenberry, and great grandsons Dillon and Nicholas Martineau.Vivienne's family will greet friends and family at the Nampa Funeral Home, Yraguen Chapel, 415 12th.
