Vivian C. Applegate1920 - 2016Vivian C. Applegate, 95, of Kenosha passed away on July 25, 2016, at Brookside Care Center with her loving family by her side. Vivian was born on Dec. 30, 1920, in Kenosha to Carl and Viola (Jirtle) Koessl Sr., and she was educated in the schools of Kenosha. She married Raymond W. Applegate on Sept. 19, 1938, in Zion, Ill., and he preceded her in death on July 25, 1998. Vivian was a proud homemaker who raised her two daughters until her youngest was married and decided she wanted to work outside the home. She was a clerk for J.C. Penny for 23 years. She was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Moose Lodge #286. Vivian enjoyed reading and tending to the flowers in her garden but her greatest joy was the time she spent with her family.She was also preceded in death by, her parents; a granddaughter, Lynn Dower; two brothers, Russell Sr. and Carl Jr. and two sisters, Lorraine Struss and Joan Stachon.Vivian is survived by, two daughters, Corinne (Richard) Babino of Englewood, Fla., and Sharon Dower of Kenosha; four grandchildren, Terri (Ted) Ruffalo, Jim Dower, Timothy (Vicki Brummel) Sr., Wendy (Tom) Hollencamp; nine great grandchildren; 13 great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Koessl of Canton, Mich., and Wayne (Patricia) Koessl of Pleasant Prairie; as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.A Mass of Christian Burial for Vivian will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 1, 2016, at St. Mary's Catholic Church (7307 – 40th Avenue) with entombment to follow at All Saints Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Hansen-Lendman Funeral Home.
