Virginia Alma Koppitch of Oscoda, formerly of Northville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2013 at Rolling Acres Assisted Living Home in East Tawas, age 91 years. Virginia was born on April 26, 1921 in Detroit to Raymond and Mabel (Apgar) McDonell. After high school graduation, Virginia attended business college for a while. She worked for Chrysler Motor Company for many years as a secretary to the vice president of the company. On June 30, 1961, she married her husband, Lewis E. Koppitch, at Angelica Lutheran Church in Allen Park. Together they have celebrated 51 years of marriage. Those who knew Virginia will remember how she truly enjoyed quilting, sewing, cooking, volunteer work, playing tennis, golf, bowling and singing in the choir. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. Virginia is survived by her loving husband, Lewis E. Koppitch of Oscoda; three children, David, Georgiana and Linda; nine grandchildren, Giles, Christian, Kik, Finn, Amber, Chad, Shannon, Kari and Kristin; 10 great grandchildren, Lan, Laura, Evan, Jack, Anne, Luke, Magnus, Lara, Eli and Kaylyn; one brother, Judge Tom (Marilyn) McDonell; nieces and nephews, Marcia, Kathy, Tom Jr., David Carlson, Carl Carlson, Patricia Amato, Carolyn and Michael. Virginia was preceded in death by two sisters, Evalyn and Patricia. A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 4 at 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church in Oscoda with Pastor Timothy Azzam officiating.
