He was born on February 15, 1945, the son of Virgil Ellsworth Herrick and Eddie Lee (McCoy) Herrick.Virgil served his country in the Marines doing multiple tours to Vietnam.Virgil is survived by his wife, Barbara Louise (Deck) Herrick of Battle Creek, Michigan; two brothers, Arthur William Herrick, Robert James (Meredyth) Herrick; daughter, Joyce Elaine (Neal) Butler; son, Robert Douglas (Tamara) Herrick; two step-sons, David (Tammy) Hamp, Michael Paul Carlton; step-daughter, Susanna Kay (Troy) Shelton, special friend, Thomas Quinn, 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Virgil Ellsworth Herrick and mother, Eddie Lee Herrick.Virgil was a black belt karate teacher and was involved with Battle Creek boxing. He enjoyed baseball and playing alongside his brother in the Battle Creek baseball leagues. Virgil loved to get lost in a good book. He enjoyed listening to music, especially classical music and rock and roll. Before he passed he was largely involved with nutrition and wellness. Virgil was a gentle giant, a thoughtful man and was always thinking of others.According to his wishes, cremation has taken place.
