CROMWELL — Violet W. Kreager, 93, of Cromwell, Indiana, passed away on Monday, May 23, 2016, at the Parkview Regional Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on Nov. 6, 1922, to Bernard and Mary (Sullivan) Dyer in southern Indiana. She married Jacob Kreager on June 8, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1988. Violet was a very active member in her community. She was a resident of Cromwell, Indiana, for almost 70 years. Some of the clubs she belonged to are: The Ligonier Chapter of Eastern Star, Ladies American Legion Auxiliary of Cromwell, Indiana, and for many years she was a Cub Scout leader of Troop 110. Violet really enjoyed reading romance novels, spending time with her poodles and was a founding member of the Stone's Hill Community Church. She will be dearly missed by her son, Jerry (Deedra) Kreager of Lafayette, Indiana; two grandsons, Matt (Dylan) Kreager of Ligonier, Indiana, and Tom (Kelly) Kreager of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and eight great-grandchildren, Jacob and Micah Kreager, Macy and Taylor Coney, Derek and Logan Caskey and Austin and Aubree Violet Kreager. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jacob, and her parents, Bernard and Mary Dyer. A funeral service will be held in Violet's honor on Friday, May 27, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at Stone's Hill Community Church, 151 W. Stones Hill Road, Ligonier. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate. Family and friends may gather from 3-8 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2016, as well as from 9:30-10:30 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Burial will take place at the Oak Park Cemetery in Ligonier, Indiana, following the service. Memorial contributions may be made in Violet's name to the Stone's Hill Community Church of Ligonier, 151 West Stones Hill Road, Ligonier, IN 46767.
