Vincent J. Byrne Obituary

Apr 01, 1935 - Jan 18, 2016

This obituary is administered by:
WILLIAMSBURG - Vincent Joseph Byrne, Sr., age 81, of Williamsburg, VA, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2016 at home. He was born on April 1, 1935, in Philadelphia, PA; attended St. Joseph's Preparatory School and then went on to graduate from St. Joseph's University in 1957, earning an A.B. degree in psychology. In 1966, he received a master's degree in education from the University of Rochester. Vince, as he was known to family, friends, and business associates, was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Margaret (Peggy) for 58 years. They made the move to Williamsburg from Wilton, CT, in 2001. They accumulated numerous memories while residing in Williamsburg, as he filled his semi-retirement years as an Executive Partner and Membership Lead at William & Mary's Graduate School of Business. He also spent his time as an executive coach and member of Ford's Colony Strategic Planning Committee. In addition, Peggy and he enjoyed endless times together out on the links, walking, and singing & acting in the Ford's Colony Theatre Club. Vince was a member of the St. Bede Adult Choir and participant in the Messiah performance at United Methodist Church for several years. Professionally, Vince founded Humanics, Inc., a firm which provided strategic planning, general management, implementation strategy, survey and training services. He was the lead consultant for American Productivity Center's White Collar Productivity Projects, Regional Council Chairman for the Quality & Productivity Association, Project Manager for Connecticut's Workforce Enhancement Projects and a Board Member on University of Rochester's Graduate School of Education Trustees Visiting Committee. Prior to forming Humanics, Inc., Vince was employed by Xerox Corporation for 17 years, where he held several senior management positions at the corporate and operating group levels, including President of Xerox Learning Systems, Vice President of the Education Group, and Director of Corporate Management Consulting Services. Vince is survived by his son, Vince Byrne, Jr.; daughter, Meg, husband, Bob, children, Bobby and Brian Crosby; daughter, Lori, husband, Keith, children, Erin Marie, Daniel and Christopher Paquette. Vince leaves his wife, children and grandchildren with many precious memories. They will miss his charisma, love of family, enjoyment of laughter, and valued personality traits of selflessness, tolerance, genuineness, sensitivity, and integrity. Most of all, their lives will forever be void of the ability to have further cherished one-on-one discussions with him on how to do your personal best as you manage the ups and downs of life's journey. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory can be made to St. Joseph's Predatory School, 1733 W. Girard Avenue, Philadelphia, PA, 19130, or a charity of personal choice. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Bede Catholic Church, 3686 Ironbound Road, Williamsburg, VA, 23188, on Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Online condolences may be offered at www.nelsencares.com.
