Vickie Lynn Baker (nee Blust), age 56, of Tawas City died Friday, March 12, 2010, at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. Vickie was born on July 2, 1953, in Tawas City to Herbert W. and Joan K. (nee Cowan) Blust. She graduated from Tawas High School in 1971 and then attended Cosmetology School. She graduated from Cosmetology School in 1972, then began her employment as a cosmetologist and beautician. For 35 years, she worked for Tendercare Nursing Home and the Iosco Medical Care Facility. Vickie was a very active woman who truly enjoyed spending quality time with her family and her new grandson, Jacob. She also had a passion to devote her time for charities in our area as well. Vickie was involved with the Quota Club of Iosco County, the FISH Organization and she was a member of the Christ Church in East Tawas. Vickie married her husband, William Baker, at the Christ Church on June 26, 1971, and he survives her. Also surviving are her children, son, Herb (Ruth Ann) Baker of Tawas City, and daughter, Shannon Baker of Tawas City; her pride and joy, love of her life, grandson, Jacob William Baker; her mother and very best friend, Joan Blust; two sisters, Lisa (Larry) Prohaska of Standish and Sandra Brugger of Tawas City; Kelsey and Anthony Prohaska; and several other nieces and nephews, and many friends. Vickie is preceded in death by her father, Herbert Blust; grandmother, Paula Peterson; and favorite cousin, Charles Blust. Vickie had many joys in her life. Working with Quota Club and FISH gave her much pleasure in helping others, which was her nature. Her greatest joy was seeing her grandson, Jake, being born and being able to be with him and her family. She enjoyed the many trips to the "city" with her mom and all the fun they had together. Many very close friends from her beautician business were always a pleasure to visit with. She cared so much for them all and you know who you are – too many to mention. Many thanks to the Tawas St. Joseph Oncology girls for their kindness and love; Dr. Sharma and his staff for a lifetime of caring and support to Vickie and our family. And last, but not least, Fr. Daniel and Christ Church for their spiritual support and love for Vickie and our family. God will receive her with open arms as she was such a blessing to so many. Per her wishes, cremation has taken place and, at this time, there are no services scheduled. Cremation arrangements are handled by Buresh and Kobs Funeral Home in Tawas City.
