Veronica E. McMurtrie age 100 of Quincy formerly of Marshall passed away on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Quincy Cottage in Quincy. She was born on January 23, 1916 a daughter of William and Mary Tobolski in Girard Twp. Veronica grew up in the Girard area and attended Grub Oak country school. On February 29, 1936 she married Herbert McMurtrie in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on December 31, 1985. She worked for many years at Progressive Dynamics in Marshall retiring in 1976. Veronica enjoyed bingo, jigsaw puzzles, and paint by numbers, but most of all spending time with her family and friends.Surviving Veronica are her children Wanda (Jack) Lake of Shelby, Claris (Robert) Shook of Coldwater, Donna Kosier of Coldwater, Robert (Linda) McMurtrie of Portage, Gary (Marilyn) McMurtrie of Battle Creek, Vicki (Tom Gay) Taylor of Marshall, 14 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, 20 great great grandchildren,3 great great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter, Bonnie Stayner, grandson, Dean Stayner and 14 brothers and sisters.Relatives and friends will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the Kempf Family Funeral Homes Marshall Chapel 723 Old US 27 N. Marshall, MI 49068. A funeral service celebrating the life of Veronica will take place at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2016 at the funeral home with Pastor Bill Cole officiating.
