Vernon Hyde Ward, 91 of Monroe, WA, passed away on July 2, 2016, at the Regency Care Center in Monroe, his family beside him. Vern was born on September 22, 1924, in Winthrop, WA to James J. Ward and Marion Vivian Hyde. He was preceded in death by son, Donald Allen Ward and grandson, Jeremy Lee Clark. Vern is survived by son, Jerry Ward (Debbie) of Snohomish, WA and daughter, Peggy McMinn (John) of Monroe; five grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Vern grew up in Brewster WA. Graduated from BHS class of 1942. Moved to west side at age 19. Worked at the Lake Washington Ship Yards during the war, where he learned his welding trade. Worked at Rossoe oil. He retired as supervisor ofthe sheet metal shop from Lockheed Ship Yard where he worked on several ships like the Polar Sea and Polar Star ice breakers. He retired at age 61. Vern loved the Lord. He enjoyed and loved his family and friends and loved gardening, boating, camping, fishing, hunting, traveling. Making people laugh was his biggest gift. But his passion was riding his Honda 90 motorcycles and atv. He rode until age 87. We all have been left with so many Vern stories, which will be shared at family gatherings for years to come. There will never be another guy like Vern. No other person could smile or laugh like Vern or make us laugh. He is in Heaven now at peace and free from the prison of Dementia. We all Love and Miss you like crazy!
