RIVERDALE - Verna Sparrow Laterza Druce died peacefully surrounded by her family at McKay-Dee Hospital on June 21, 2007, following an extended illness. She was born on July 12, 1935, in Preston, Idaho, and was the daughter of Charles Raymond Sparrow and Ethel Dahle Sparrow. She graduated from Preston High School in 1953 and attended Stevens Heneger College. In 1955, she married Ronald Laterza, with whom she had six children. In 1975, she married Paul Druce in Salt Lake City. They later divorced. She then moved to Roy and ultimately resided in Riverdale. Surviving are her children: JoAnn Spencer (Rick) Ogden, Utah; Phillip Laterza (Wendy) Riverdale, Utah; Phyllis Laterza South Jordan, Utah; Dean Laterza (Kimberly) Highlands Ranch, Colo.; Nadine Swedin Centerville, Utah; Janiel (Gary) Wagner Sandy, Utah. She is also survived by her two brothers, Bob and John Sparrow; her 15 grandchildren and her three great-grandchildren, whom she loved spending time with. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m., Tuesday, June 26, 2007, at Myers Roy Mortuary, 5865 South 1900 West, Roy, Utah. Family and Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, June 25, 2007 and from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m., Tuesday prior to the services. Interment Washington Heights Memorial Park.
