Verdella "Pat" Schwartz ShenardSanta Paula/Santa Barbara, CAVerdella "Pat" Schwartz Shenard, passed away on September 3, 2017, at home in Santa Paula, California. Verdella was born on September 10, 1919 in Lester Prairie, Minnesota to Fred and Augusta Schwartz. Growing up during the Great Depression, she was schooled until she was twelve years old at which time she entered the workforce. She was a hard worker her entire life and had a variety of work experiences which included jobs as a welder for Tonka Toys, a domestic worker, and a switch board operator at Security Pacific Bank for over twenty five years. After WWII, Verdella traveled from Minnesota to California where she met and married, Earl Shenard. After her retirement from the bank, Verdella and her husband moved to Lyons, Oregon. She truly loved living in Oregon. There she and Earl loved eating out and exploring the country in their car. Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, pine needle basket weaving, baking and reading. Verdella Shenard is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Marquez, son in-law, Miguel Marquez, sister, Alice Lindquist, granddaughters, Christina Pesce, Robin Alimena and Sara Knox, and great-grandchildren, Devon, Shane, Stella and Alma. She is preceded in death by her husband of sixty years, Earl Shenard, and her brothers, Clarence, Herbert, Leland, & Harold Schwartz. Family and friends are invited to Funeral Services to be held at the Santa Barbara Cemetery Chapel, 901 Channel Drive, Montecito, on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 11am. Interment will immediately follow in Santa Barbara Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of the JOSEPH P. REARDON FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICE, 757 E. Main Street Ventura.
