Vera Raymond PorterAge: 86 • BurlingtonVera R. Porter, 86, died peacefully on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, in Ethan Allen Residence. She was born on Oct. 9, 1930, in Stowe, the daughter of Albert Raymond Sr. and Ruby (Shaw) Raymond. She attended school in Stowe, graduating in 1948. Vera spent many years as a stay at home mom then went to work in doctors' offices, retiring from Associates in Orthopedics when she was 72. Vera loved to read and bake; her specialties were her blueberry muffins and cheese cake. Vera is survived by her daughter, Gail and husband William Maynard of Port Charlotte, FL.; son, Jack and wife, Dale of Foxfield, CO. son, David of Colchester; son, Dana and wife Kerstin of Westford, MA; daughter Mary and husband Jack Thompson of Essex Jct; sister, Carol Petrie and husband, William, of Apopka, FL.; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren and many cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brothers, Albert Jr, Lyle, and Sears; sisters, Priscilla Mandigo and Nancy Wesson; and nephews, Kim Adams and Eric Raymond. Contributions in Vera's memory may be made to Faith United Methodist Church, 899 Dorset St South Burlington, VT. A memorial service will be held at the church on Sunday, Feb. 26 at 2 pm.
