Vada Marie (Calhoun) Snyder, age 83, of Summit St., in Brookville, Pa., passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, as a resident of Brookside Senior Living in Brookville, Pa. Vada was born on March 9, 1933, to the late Harry and Dorothy (Slawson) Calhoun in Brockway, Pa. On October 6, 1951, she married Richard "Sneezy" Snyder in Brockway, Pa. Richard preceded her in death on April 15, 2016; they were married for 64 years. Vada and Richard owned and operated Snyder's Dry Cleaning in Brookville, Pa., from 1954–1991. Vada enjoyed designing and making her own jewelry, primarily earrings, sewing, growing flowers, going to their property on weekends, having picnics, and taking long walks in "their" woods. She immensely enjoyed shopping for her grandchildren; more than anything, she loved her family and the family dog Gracie. Vada is survived by one daughter, Gwendolyn (Denny) Battaglia of Brookville, Pa.; two grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Battaglia of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Erin Battaglia of Reynoldsville, Pa.; three great-grandchildren, Madison, Katy, and Max; one sister, Etta Hynds of Brockway, Pa.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her husband and parents, Vada is preceded in death by two brothers, Gerald Calhoun and Donald Calhoun. Family and friends will be received on Monday, Nov. 14, 2016, from 2–4 p.m. and 6–8 p.m., at the McKinney–d'Argy Funeral Home, ltd, 345 Main St., Brookville, PA 15825. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2016, also at the funeral home, beginning at 1 p.m., and officiated by the Rev. Dennis Johnson. Interment will take place at the Temple Cemetery, Warsaw Twp., Jefferson Co., Pa.
