Tony Reed Obituary

Dec 11, 1967 - Sep 01, 2008

This obituary is administered by:
In the early evening of September 1st, 2008 our dear Tony died totally unexpectedly, at his home of genetic heart disease. Labor Day closed a very busy summer for Tony. He had spent many days with his children, Cody and Tasha, as well as with Tawnya his Fiancé planning their wedding to be held March 21st, 2009. Tony, Tawnya and the children spent lots of time in the mountains, hiking & playing. They cooked together as a family, traveled and spent lots of time at home watching movies and having tickle fights and making waffles for breakfast. Tony & Tawnya had started attending church together at the Baptist church in Wapato. It made Tony's heart soar to see his children in church. He was also very proud to watch Tasha in ballet & to watch Cody play football. Anthony Scott reed was born on December 11, 1967 in Spokane, Washington. He lived his whole life in the Kittitas Valley. He attended Ellensburg schools and graduated from Ellensburg High school in 1986. He was presently employed by the State of Washington, Department of Agriculture as a Weights and Measures Inspector. Tony has a special gift of dealing with those the Department served, treating them with respect, while performing his duties. He loved his work and was beloved by all who worked with him. He had worked for the Department of Natural Resources for nine years. Tony loved the Cowboy life, spending several years raising hay, cattle and Tennessee Walking Horses. His great talent was his relationships with people, where working, singing or just being around, he made everyone happy and glad that they knew him. He loved to write songs and music. Performing before an audience was especially enjoyable and satisfying to him. He always relaxed on the stage. Tony lived by the Cowboy Code and was known as the Cowboy Singer with mellifluous baritone voice. He began singing in church at the age of four and learned to play the guitar at an early age. Tony was a member of the "Outriders" a Washington-based cowboy/country band that enjoyed regional success and international acclaim with their release of "Wonderin Which Way to Go" in 2003. In 2005 he released a solo effort, "Rustlers Wind" that garnered him acclaim in the cowboy music field. He had written all but one of the songs, with many based on his experiences in the Kittitas Valley. Tony worked with his songwriting and musical partner Bruce Coe for close to ten years and the two of them had developed a style that seemed to span the cowboy/traditional country music genres. Tony is survived by his Fiancé Tawnya Wright, his son Cody age 8 and daughter Tasha age 7, His parents Terry and Dolores Reed, his brother John Reed, grandmother Irene Brownlow and a niece Charise Reed, two aunts, one uncle and six cousins. His grand parents Forrest and Ruth Reed and grandfather Loren Brownlow precedes him in death. Tony touched many lives and you are cordially invited to honor him Thursday, September 11th, 2008 at 2pm at the Kittitas County Fairgrounds, Teanaway Hall, burial will be held at the I.O.O.F Cemetery, followed by a time of eating and remembering. Come and remember Tony. Memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
